New Civil Engineer’s TechFest supported by Construction News was a unique forum to discover innovative ideas from across the industry. This one-day festival celebrates the projects, teams and companies embracing the digital revolution and harnessing digital technology to propel the construction industry forward.
After winning the ‘Smart Use of Machinery: Technology for Heavy Plant Award’ in 2019, MachineMax were invited back to present and sponsor the event, which was a great way to engage with partners from across the entire construction industry including clients, contractors, consultants, architects, leading technology providers, innovators and start-ups.
Lead Engineer, Lina Alagrami joined two other industry professionals from National Highways and The Environment Agency to discuss how machine learning, augmented reality and data can help design, build and manage infrastructure? This involved sitting down with different industry professionals and presenting your thoughts and your companies initiatives to help answer this question.
The construction industry has had zero productivity gains in the last 40 years and the lag in productivity is costing the global economy more than $1.6 trillion annually, which is why we need to not only collect data and use machine learning, but to also understand how to implement changes once we have that data. With a key emphasis on consolidating your fleet Lina spoke about how MachineMax has used data and machine learning to increase productivity on site, reduce emissions and save money.
Following a year where technology has been more important than ever, the evening was rounded off with a brilliant awards ceremony that celebrated the industry’s achievements in embracing change.
